A little over a week ago I was lucky enough to shoot several families for a Haiti fundraiser. It was a whirlwind experience and I still have a lot of editing to do by this Sunday (which is when I promised they would be up) but it was a lot of fun. This little man in particular was a blast. He was SO good natured and would smile really big when his dad would dance and sing "Pants on the Ground" behind me.

I am so sorry about the delay in posting. I feel like I have been running around like crazy. I have not had any weddings yet this year but I have had a lot of portrait sessions. I love portrait sessions. It is so much more intimate. You really get a chance to talk to the people you are photographng and get to know them... or about them, as the case is with this portrait. I have lots to choose from with this guy (his name is River) but I liked how regal he looks in this shot.

My favorite thing about photography is the instance when you capture who someone is in their photo. Without trying to sound too "new agey", it is like a glimpse in to that person's or animal's soul. I think it is easier with children or animals because they are less guarded. I am not sure what makes the perfect head shot for people's work; that is entirely up to them. That is more about the persona that they a re trying to convey. What I do know is, that I made Bill laugh and for a brief second he relaxed and I got to capture a shot of him that shows the truly kind, warm human being he is. Here is Bill:

I have a fun filled weekend planned. Last night I had the pleasure of photographing my partner, Annie and her beautiful little girls. Today is a photo session with Bill and a night of fun celebrating Andrew Nagle's birth. Here is one of my favorite photographs of Nora, Annie's oldest daughter.
